Our commitment
Cribley Well Drilling & Water Services is committed to making cribley.com accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We believe access to information about essential services — water and well systems — should not depend on which devices or assistive technologies a visitor uses.
This website is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 AA is the widely recognized standard for web accessibility in the United States and internationally.
Accessibility features
cribley.com is built with the following accessibility features:
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — navigation, forms, buttons, and links — are fully accessible via keyboard. Focus states are visible and meet WCAG 2.2 minimum contrast requirements. Tab order follows a logical, predictable sequence.
- Screen reader support: Page structure uses semantic HTML elements (headings, landmarks, lists, articles) that communicate content hierarchy to screen readers. ARIA labels supplement elements where HTML semantics alone are insufficient. All images have descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive element contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 AA minimums (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components). We target AAA compliance (7:1) for primary body text where the design permits. Color is never the sole means of conveying information.
- Text alternatives for non-text content: All images have descriptive alt attributes. Informational SVG icons include ARIA labels or titles. Decorative images and icons use
aria-hidden="true"or empty alt attributes to avoid screen reader noise. - Readable line lengths and spacing: Body text is constrained to readable line lengths (65 characters maximum). Line height meets WCAG 2.2 requirements. Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Skip navigation: A skip-to-main-content link is the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repeated navigation.
- Form accessibility: All form fields have visible, descriptive labels. Required fields are identified both visually and programmatically. Error messages are descriptive and associated with the fields they describe.
- Motion and animation: Users who have enabled the operating system's "reduce motion" preference will see the site with animations reduced or eliminated. Decorative video is replaced with a static poster image.
- Video captions: Video content includes closed captions when applicable. The hero background video is decorative, plays muted, and does not convey information — no captions are required. Any informational video added to the site will include accurate captions.
Known limitations
We aim for full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance and believe we have met that standard as of the last review date. However, we acknowledge the following known limitations:
- Hero background video: The homepage hero includes a background video (geological textures, B-roll footage). This video is decorative — it does not convey information that is not available in the page text. For users with reduced-motion preferences, a static poster image is shown instead. No information is lost if the video does not play.
- Third-party content: Embedded maps or third-party widgets (if present) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 AA. We will provide alternative means of accessing the same information where third-party components have accessibility limitations.
We test the site with automated tools (axe, Pa11y) and manual testing using keyboard navigation and screen readers (NVDA/Firefox, VoiceOver/Safari). If automated and manual testing disagree, we investigate the discrepancy and address it.
